LENT FOR FAMILIES: What is it? What's included?
Our Illustrated Lent for Families is an opportunity for families to take time each week during Lent to be intentional and focus on their faith. You'll receive seven weekly family devotions and coloring and activity pages.

Who is it for?
Most churches will purchase this and give it to families in their community. It's also great for individual families to purchase and use on their own. We've also had churches with intergenerational Lenten programming use it for multi-age gatherings.

An Illustrated Lent for Families: Reflections on the Heart invites families to focus intentionally on the spiritual discipline of evaluating what the heart treasures. Some are physical treasures we can touch, hold, store, and give. Some treasures are invisible, yet still, greatly matter and guide our lives. By exploring Gospel passages about treasures and matters of the heart, families will reflect on what kind of treasure matters to us, why we store treasures, and the power these treasures have in our lives.

What You Will Receive

  • Seven Family Devotions: Seven weeks of family devotions that are simple but meaningful. The seven devotions focus on scripture passages for our theme, and each week includes a brief reflection, discussion questions, an activity, and a prayer.
  • Coloring & Activity Pages: Each session includes a coloring page that goes along with the Bible story.
  • Special Ash Wednesday Labyrinth Meditation: We also include a special meditation using a labyrinth for Ash Wednesday.

How You Can Use It

Churches often purchase this and send it home with parents to use during Lent. An Illustrated Lent for Families also makes a great addition to any Lenten materials you might be putting together to send home to families. One could also adapt it for a Sunday School or multigenerational programming.

An Extraordinary Resource
We have been using Illustrated Ministry resources since the start of the Pandemic. We opted for the Reflections of the Heart for Families for our families and our Sunday School program. We are loving the simplicity of the materials and how easy the message can be given to our children. We will continue to use these resources in the future as they truly are extraordinary.

Fantastic Resource for Families!
Because our children's ministries will not be able to meet in person again by Easter, I purchased this devotional to put into a Lent kit that I am putting together for our families this year. My goal is to provide something to my families that will help enrich their faith life without causing new stress in their lives. The description made it seem like this would be something that would be easy for families to do together, and I have been very happy with all my Illustrated Ministry purchases in the past. I sat down and read the entire devotional today, and I am beyond excited to share this with our families. The activities are simple and meaningful. The reflections do a fantastic job of bringing the meaning of the scriptures into our current world so that children can understand them and parents don't get stressed out trying to explain things that may not feel equipped to explain to their children. The questions are great conversation starters for families. As usual, the coloring pages are beautifully designed. And the scriptures perfectly illustrate the idea of the true treasures in our hearts and in our faith. Thank you so much for providing such a beautiful resource for our church during what continues to be our time apart. I cannot wait to share this with our families!

Lent - Reflections on the Heart
This is a wonderful resource for our young members (and even the not so young). There are opportunities for having wonderful family discussions - with questions provided! There are coloring pages, and even a labyrinth to follow. We love the Illustrated Ministry offerings and we use them OFTEN!

Excellent resource
I’m using this resource just as I used the Advent resource for families. We are not meeting in our building. So I mail the coloring sheets and activity supplies to the families and then I record the devotions and I record a “how-to” for the activities. I email these weekly videos via constant contact and I also post them on our closed Facebook group page. It’s been such a blessing to have a focused curriculum that I can make “ours” and share with our families in their homes. It has taken a lot of “thinking” stress off my shoulders. Thank you IM!!!
